Step by step, we repair the world by bringing people together to help one another.
Here's how:
1. We have a new narrative for life called PeaceBrook. In PeaceBrook:
- People help one another
- Have a thriving economy, and
- Grassroots governing councils that anyone can start.
2. Our big project is Good Money Chicago 2028. By the summer of 2028:
- You can buy most essentials with either your dollar- or time-based credit cards.
- Most people prefer to use their time rather than the dollars they may need to buy gas and other necessities.
- Exchanging time brings people together. Good money uses both hours and dollars and helps grow thriving communities.
3. Here’s how a time-based credit card works. If I help you for an hour, I credit my account for that hour and debit yours. I can spend the hour I earned by asking someone to help me. You clear the hour you owe by helping someone.
The local economy is stronger when dollars and time are used as real money:
- A clinic that's lost 20% of its funding can replace the lost dollars with the equivalent amount of time currency. Instead of laying Tom off, the clinic can pay him 80% of his salary in dollars and 20% in time currency. Tom can use his time credit to pay for part of his groceries (at stores that accept time currency).
- A barber can more easily fill his chair if he, too, accepts from Tom 80% payment in dollars and 20% in hours.
- Mary can see a doctor at the clinic for $80 (instead of $100) plus an hour of time credit.
Check us out at our 3rd-Friday zoom meetings,
10:00 AM to noon (Central Time).
Meet some PeaceBrook people. Sense how good life feels when you are among caring people who are growing a better tomorrow.
The purpose of our meetings is to connect through our conversations, so that between meetings, we can explore ways to support one another with our work. Thus, during the first 30 minutes, people briefly introduce themselves, respond to an icebreaker, and begin connecting on a personal level.
All are welcome. To receive the Zoom link, please send me your name, zip code, and email address.
