TimeExchanges.com is a community‑building tool that uses “time currency” (hours) as a medium of exchange, alongside traditional dollars, to help neighbors connect, support one another, and strengthen local economies. It functions as both a time‑banking network and a local marketplace, enabling people to offer and request help, goods, and services within their communities.

Core idea and purpose

TimeExchanges is built on the idea that everyone’s time is valuable, and that tracking “time transactions” helps make both formal and informal help visible and reciprocal. The platform aims to address issues such as poverty, job loss, and social isolation by creating more local, relationship‑based exchanges that would not happen if people relied only on dollars.

How it works

• When I help you for an hour, I credit my account for that hour and debit yours.

• I can spend the hour I earned by asking someone to help me.

• You can clear the hour you owe by helping someone.

• Also, you can post what you offer and request what you need. 

Community and organizational focus

Churches, not‑for‑profits, and neighborhood coalitions, and their members can use time currency simply by registering with their name, email, and zip code.

The purpose of our meetings is to connect through our conversations, so that between meetings, we can explore ways to support one another with our work. Thus, during the first 30 minutes, people briefly introduce themselves, respond to an icebreaker, and begin connecting on a personal level.
